The False Bay Ecology Park Head Office for the City of Cape Town was the first of four phases to be completed. The other phases included a hall, workshops, and student accommodation, which were done over the next couple of years.
The Head Office used the existing derelict yacht club building to form the basis for the new four-story building, which accommodated changing rooms, a function kitchen, offices, and a boardroom with spectacular views over the vlei.
The construction employed standard methods but incorporated various sustainable construction systems such as sandbag walls, photovoltaics, and a grey water system. The building was constructed over ten months and had a budget of R6.5 million.
